Sales of Zimmer Durom Cup Hip Replacements Suspended

July 24, 2008 – Zimmer Holdings, Inc. announced a temporary suspension of marketing and sales of the Durom acetabular component (“Durom Cup”) in the United States.  Company officials said the voluntary action is to address concerns regarding possible device failures including cup loosening that requires subsequent revision surgery.  Over 12,000 Durom Cups have been implanted in United States’ patients since 2006.
